In the Philippines, we usually see cash register terminals among fast food restaurants, courier shops, grocery and even small businesses. They are called POS (Point of Sale) devices that use paper rolls.
But remember that the paper they are using is not ordinary. They are thermal papers that print letters and numbers because of heating elements inside the printer.
What Size is Compatible?
Among business establishments, the POS cash register they typically use is compatible with 80mm x 70mm thermal paper rolls. You can find other variants like X50mm or X80mm but they will only matter if you want longer or shorter total length.
How to Read POS Receipt Size
- 1st digit: 80mm is the width of the paper receipt.
- 2nd digit: The diameter of the roll. The higher the number, the bigger the diameter (therefore more paper, but more expensive)
Note that the bigger the diameter, the more paper it includes. But we suggest that you keep it in the middle, so x70mm is a good start.
